Trip Overview
This 8-day adventure will cover the Northern parts of France. We will begin in Paris. You will be picked up at the airport by our transportation service and brought directly to our hotel. You will have the afternoon for rest or exploration, and we will all meet for a delightful Welcome Dinner.
We will spend our first day in Paris, visiting the Musee D'Orsay and enjoying a free afternoon in the city. In the evening, we'll take a ride down the Seine, admiring the city of lights.
From Paris, we will drive in the comfort of our mini-van to the delightful town of Honfleur, stopping at the Rouen Cathedral. In Honfleur, we will visit the old harbor made famous by Monet and the fascinating wooden Saint Catherine's Church. In the afternoon, we will enjoy the delights of the Cider Route, tasting ciders and visiting charming villages along the way. After our tasting, we will find our hotel in Saint Malo, and the evening will be yours to explore and relax.
From Saint Malo, we will travel west to the wonderous Mont Saint-Michel. This magical place is best seen throughout an entire day, when the tide is low and the town is reachable by foot, and then when the tide is high and the town appears as an island. After exploring the abbey and the village, we will immerse ourselves in Normady's culinary tradtions by taking a cooking lesson and enjoying the fruits of our labor.
The next morning, we will drive from Saint Malo to the historic and quinessential Breton city of Quimper, pearched out in the Atlantic. We will see the beautiful timbered homes and taste the influence of the sea during our day in Quimper, which will include a traditional lunch, a guided tour of the city, and plenty of free time.
Our next visits will be to small towns that exemplify the charm and simplicity of Brittany. Pont-Aven will welcome us, as it did artist Paul Gaugin, with quaint water mills pictureqsue harbor. Riec-sur-Belon, home to dozens of oyster farms, greets us for a seaside lunch, and, finally, Rochefort-en-Terre, one of France's "Most Beautiful Villages" will be our home for the evening with its perfect town square and buildings bursting with colorful geraniums.
One our way back to Paris the following day, we will stop at the bustling Saturday Farmers Market in ________ to sample produce and buy souvenirs of our time in Normandy and Brittany. If time and interest allows, we will also make a stop in Chartres to see the incredible medieval Cathedral. You will have a free afternoon in Paris before joining the group for a farewell dinner and a boatride down the Seine.
Our driver will take you back to the airport or train station on your departure day.
